The Pender County Humane Society will hold a Howl-O-Ween festival Oct. 31, prior to and in conjunction with Burgaw’s Trunk-O-Treat for area kids.

The fees are $5 per animal for the parade and $5 per animal per costume contest. The schedule: noon-12:30 p.m. - Registration at the Burgaw Courthouse at the gazebo; 12:30 to 1 p.m. - parade around the courthouse sidewalks; 1 to 1:15 p.m. - Best Costume Contest; 1:15 to 1:30 p.m. - Cutest Contest; 1:30 to 1:45 p.m. - Owner/Animal Look-a-Like Contest; and 1:45 to 2 p.m. - Most Talented Contest.
