Recently I wrote an article called Foreclosure Pets about pets being surrendered to shelters and rescue organizations in larger and larger numbers due to the increase rate of bank foreclosures. While many people in tight financial situations can rely on friends and family for short term financial assistance and a place to stay, many among us do not have this resource. I wondered at the time if there were any organizations that could help keep these families together. Now apparently there is.
Just as the Federal government is seeking to give financial assistance to help homeowners to allow them to stay in their homes and thereby reduce family stress and increase the number of homes on the auction block; there is now an fund raising organization helping keep dog families together and preventing the number of pet surrenders through help with food, medicine pet insurance etc.
The organization is called Fairy Dog Parents and they’re located in Duxbury Massachuesetts. According to their website they were inspired to start this organization after their rescue dog of 4 years passed away. To learn more visit their site: http://fairydogparents.org/index.html
