Coastal Hounds
“Walk The Town”
When: Saturday October 9, 2010
Where: Shallotte Middle School - Shallotte, NC
Time: Registration begins at 9:00 am
Length: 1.25 miles for the Bassett Hound Track
2.00 miles for the Top Hound Track
Our charity walk lets every dog have his day!
At the starting line, some participants are slobbering, others are scratching
themselves, and still others are sticking their noses in inappropriate places.
But their social faux pas are forgiving, because they have four legs, wet noses
and fur…and they’re walking to raise money for charity.

We are proud to announce the 2010 benefit event for Adopt-An-Angel Animal Rescue! This year we are hosting a Bow Wow Luau & The Cat’s Meow FUN-Raiser event. The event promises to be an evening filled with fun, music by The Imitations, and lots of great silent auction items!

* WHEN: 7:00pm, Saturday, August 28th, 2010
* WHERE: Banks Channel Pub and Grille, Wrightsville Beach, NC
Since 2004, over 4,325 cats/dogs have been rescued and adopted. Adopt-An-Angel has spayed and neutered another 2000, preventing their entry into the shelter in the first place. In 2009, Adopt-An-Angel adopted out 725 animals! There is no paid staff, it’s all volunteer, so every dollar goes to the animals. Please join us at the Bow Wow Luau & Cat’s Meow—a great Cause for Paws!

Recently I wrote an article called Foreclosure Pets about pets being surrendered to shelters and rescue organizations in larger and larger numbers due to the increase rate of bank foreclosures. While many people in tight financial situations can rely on friends and family for short term financial assistance and a place to stay, many among us do not have this resource. I wondered at the time if there were any organizations that could help keep these families together. Now apparently there is.
Just as the Federal government is seeking to give financial assistance to help homeowners to allow them to stay in their homes and thereby reduce family stress and increase the number of homes on the auction block; there is now an fund raising organization helping keep dog families together and preventing the number of pet surrenders through help with food, medicine pet insurance etc.
The organization is called Fairy Dog Parents and they’re located in Duxbury Massachuesetts. According to their website they were inspired to start this organization after their rescue dog of 4 years passed away. To learn more visit their site: http://fairydogparents.org/index.html
